Exploring Binevenagh, Causeway Coast in a Day
Located only a few miles from Northern Ireland’s spectacular Causeway Coast, it is obvious that there are endless walks and activities to do when exploring Binevenagh and the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty. However we have decided to narrow it down so you are able to incorporate one fun filled adventure day into your busy lifestyle and explore the outdoors.
Beginning at the top of the mountain, the Manannán Mac Lir viewing point offers exceptional views of the Magilligan peninsula and one the longest beaches in Ireland, stretching from the Magilligan Point to Downhill. From here you can walk and explore the top of the mountain or head down to Ballycarton woods and enjoy the woodland situated on the side of the mountain.
If you’re looking to enjoy the sights Binevenagh has to offer from a different point of view, try our Stand Up Paddleboarding, which offers a relaxing journey down the River Roe from Swann’s Bridge and allows you to experience the beautiful views while still getting in the water! However, if a more exhilarating water experience is what you want, head to Benone beach to try out the surf in one of our afternoon sessions. Whether you’re a beginner or have been surfing your entire life, it’s guaranteed that the breath-taking views combined with an element of the surf lifestyle will bring a smile to your face.
After your elating surf, warm up and wind down in Sea Shed with a hot drink, from spanish hot chocolates to aeropresses it is guaranteed that you’ll find a drink to give you another burst of energy for the rest of your day.
A short drive from Benone to Downhill brings you to one of the most recognizable destinations on the Causeway Coast, with walks through Downhill Demesne to Mussenden Temple and the beautiful gardens on show, there is no way not to fall in love with the area.
After experiencing so much of Binevenagh you’ll definitely have worked up an appetite, so visit either The Point Bar and Bistro or Angler’s Rest to fill up on delicious food and reward yourself with a glass of wine or a pint by the fire before heading home after your day of adventure.
